No, not really, I have a fan blowing overhead and the router is practically on the floor. I felt all around the router and I can't feel heat coming or blowing into it.

OK, I've disabled all the firewalls (ZA on both computers and the XP Firewall), set MTU enabled to 1500 and made sure the XP subnet mask was 255.255.255.0 and I'm still getting cut off. Does it have to be connected for a while to catch or what?

Are there any diagnostic tools I can use to confirm either a bad router or the ISP (Roadrunner) cutting me off? Or maybe the Ericsson PipeRider cable modem is not compatible with the Linksys BEFSR41 router?

Just found this statement on the Roadrunner site:
"The Ethernet card must be installed and available for Road Runner use. Road Runner is intended for stand-alone computers; for information on local networking capability, contact your local cable provider."

Well, this is getting ridiculous now. Sometimes I can't even reconnect to the Internet without resetting my cable modem. I've tried all the suggestions from Roadrunner and Linksys and nothing seems to work. Either the router is not doing its job or my ISP is playing games with me. I can't even find out any info. on routers at the Roadrunner Help site.

EDIT: Now I'm having trouble receiving my e-mail messages. This is sounding more and more like an ISP problem.

After scanning the forums at broadbandreports.com, it seems it may be a router firmware problem. Linksys may be releasing a new firmware version for BEFSR41 v3 soon.

I've decided that I can't wait for the firmware upgrade as this could take a while and may not even work after this. I've already sent my RMA request into ZipZoomFly and was wondering should I get the D-Link DI-604 or the SMC 7004VBR to replace the Linksys BEFSR41 v3?

I must say that the issue looks Strange to me.

I have Road Runner Connetion. I already tried at least 10 different Cable/DSL Routers (Brands like: Microsoft, SMC, D-Link, Netgear, Belkin, Speed Stream).

In all cases after I cloned the MAC I never had a problem.

Two days ago I installed a $9.99 Belkin Router from Microcenter, works like a charm.

OK, I'm not giving up yet, I got some ideas from another forum that might just work........update at Eleven or whenever! Besides I have a few days before my RMA expires, but don't let that stop you from suggesting a good router replacement from the ones above.

I just changed my router and computer network settings in that long post above. Can you guys check it one more time and make sure the settings look good? Thank you.

Well you first posted this thread on March 10.

So it gave Belkin time to work on it, and reduce manufacturing cost.:music:

Hey it took God only 7 days to build the world.:D

OK, this is getting a little out of hand. I tried last night with a new router (D-Link DI-704P) the default settings (automatic) and setting the IPs to different consecutive numbers as suggested instead of automatic and with just one computer connected to the router I keep getting cut off again. I have cloned the MAC address of the computer that Roadrunner has on file. The cable modem lights are 3 continuously on and not blinking when I'm cut off. I reset the cable modem for 5 minutes and the same thing happens. I have also tried resetting the router and still same problem.

I did leave the router and cable modem on all night after leaving the modem with 3 lights on and not blinking and I check this morning and two of them were blinking like they should be with a normal connection. I didn't turn the computer on because I had to get to work. Any ideas on what might be going on now?

Well, it worked for most of last Thursday night and only cut me off once and then I was able to connect again. Last night it worked for about 5 minutes and I had to reconnect multiple times with only as much as a minute being connected. I'm calling Roadrunner today!

.....just called and they said some other people are having trouble with bad modems, so first replace the cable modem and then see what happens.

I'm doing this today and will test tonight!
