I have the xbox HD pack AND the svid pack...
I could use either SVID OR COMPONENT on ALL my stuff.
Basically, out of the three, which is the least neccessary to have component.
DVD player, XBOX, digital cable box

I had the exact same problem with my HDTV..
there are several ways to get this working..
First, Everything should be using Component inputs if possible... (best video, especially the Xbox)..
You can spend $100-$400 for a Component Video Switch
or
Sometimes CableBox has a input/output for component video..
If it has an input, connect the DVD player to the digital cablebox and it will work, when you power off the cable..
Does your TV have DVI input? If it does, you can connect your cable box to the DVI on your TV..
or
If you don't want to use all component.. Then other solution is, if your DVD player isn't progressive, then it should use svideo..

Wega will support high resolution..
Not HD but it has better resolution than regular TV..
Progressive isn't just for HD..
HD will do 1080i
I belive Wega will either do 720 or 480... i think
You should still be able to do progressive through wega.. I think (not 100% sure, never owned WEGA..)

Digital cable isn't much better than VHS quality. Or is it HD cable? Either way, your TV isn't HD so I'd go S-Video on the digital cable if you didn't want to get a component video selector box.
