It's basically impossible to argue with people who can't understand why they shouldn't be able to carry weapons in every public place on earth.

Do you people ever leave this country, or do you stay locked up in your compound deep in the Wasatch mountains? In any other country (at least any other country with a very high HDI) you would be viewed as patently insane. Nobody, and I mean nobody in the UK or France or Germany is suggesting that anyone should have guns for their protection. They want guns for hunting. In the UK you need a special permit to own a .22 Rifle. They would never ever let you own an M16.

I guess it's for the best that you stay in your holes, because that way if I want to stay away from crazy people, it's as easy as going anywhere but here.

Honestly I don't care what Germans, Brits, or Frenchmen think their people should and should not be able to do. We have a different idea here, and it's worked out quite well. As supported by the facts, people who are legally allowed to carry a weapon by and large do not commit crimes with said weapon. If it isn't a problem, why are you trying to make it a problem?

And this thread isn't even about carrying a weapon wherever you go. It's about having a weapon in your own home. Why don't you try to stay on topic?

Some places don't allow waterbeds. Others pets. Others firearms.

I truly don't understand what people are struggling with here. These guys broke the rules with campus housing and are having to pay the price.

So the school is negligent by not providing safe living space.

It is a stupid rule. The school is protecting no one. Criminals don't obey rules.

People want the law to be their interpretation as it suits them.

I am extremely pro-gun, but understand why many apartments don't want them on-site. In Gainesville, in the wake of the whole Rollins murders; we had a domestic dispute in the apartments next door. Bullets had gone through some of our buildings with two psychos shooting at each other.

Schools have very clear rules when it comes to no drugs and no weapons. These two students broke those rules and are now having to pay the price. I saw this happen in High School when a friend of mine was late for class or something and showed up to school with his hunting rifles in the cab of his truck along with some carcasses. Someone spotted the bloody animals, they came to his truck, saw the guns and he was gone. We didn't see him again until we walked.

It is obvious that you have no clue at all.......what happens in other countries has no bearing on this topic.....

I have traveled and still do when called upon extensively in the Middle east...Israel...Egypt...I have even been to Iran as a "tourist" but not really a tourist..lolol

Please tell me about guns in other countries.....

This really nothing to do with them defending themselves. They broke university law by having a gun in the apartment. And this protects the university.

University "law"? Or policy? These students did nothing illegal.

Not being Illegal doesn't mean you don't get your ass kicked to the curb bro.

Bringing a dog into many places isn't illegal, but not appropriate.

Not to you Kadarin (I hope this isn't you I am going to speak to) "Keep your Chihuahua out of Home Depot along with your 4 kids running rampant." You are looking for a lawsuit.

I'm a gun nut and I have no problem with property owners not allowing firearms.

Would you take issue to the University not allowing a gay person or a fat person to live in their apartments?

Those are people, not objects. The 2nd Amendment doesn't protect guns, it protects the right to own them.

The university policy doesn't forbid gun ownership. It forbids guns on their property.

Yes. But they cannot confiscate the weapon just like they cannot tape your mouth shut.

No weapons or weapons they got a felon off the street and are still alive. If there registered to own the gun then I think they are making a bigger deal about self defense.

err.

University's do not have laws. They have rules.

they broke the rule.

I disagree with the rule but meh.

Not his point at all. He is pointing out there is a difference between breaking a schools rule and breaking the law.

A university can not enact laws. they can rules. breaking one can land you in jail. breaking the other can get you kicked out.

Yes. But they cannot confiscate the weapon just like they cannot tape your mouth shut.

/this. they should get kicked out but should have the guns given back.

Universities do and can have laws. They are not Federal or State or County or etc based.

I take it you haven't been to college.

A law really is just a synonym for a rule. It's what agency is backing it that matters who it binds.

First of all, many universities have rules in place that are meant to protect students living on campus. Including telling students not to prop building doors or to let strangers in.

These two men open the door for a stranger that turned out to be a criminal. That is not the school's fault.

You can put rules in place, but you cannot always get people to follow them. These two are an example of that...as well as the person who let the hobo into the building.

When in I went to high school in mid 70's this was a common occurrence during hunting season however, no one was ever suspended much less considered as doing something wrong.
