I think I had him confused with a different goon. Definitely not the NM liberal.

But some Googling turned this up:

Over the summer, Dianne and Michael Pues got an ominous phone call from the business partner of a Ukrainian-American entrepreneur who owes the couple more than $500,000 over a movie deal gone bad.

“He said the Ukrainians were upset because we were ‘a dangling participle’ and we needed to make a deal to make them go away,” Dianne Pues, who lives in New Jersey with her husband, recounted in a recent interview. “He said we no longer knew who we were dealing with and that the Ukrainians had ties all the way up to the State Department and the White House and they were partners with Rudy Giuliani.”

That was Correia. Basically, this guy warned a couple Parnas and Fruman conned not to cause “trouble”...
Only the best people.

Trying to flee the country with 1 way tickets when they were arrested, eh? Here is where decades of mocking OJ's flight to the airport suddenly doesn't work for the peanut gallery.

Sounds like Barr and Giuliani may have more charges coming their way. Fantastic.

I'm sure all the contact with Barr and Giuliani right before was a coincidence, hell I bet Ukraine and the FBI didn't even come up.
Bu, but Bill had a 1/2 hr conversation on a plane. Look...over there.....

Interesting...looks like Kevin McCarthy may have benefited from this scheme as well. Surprise, surprise:

Why do dastardly people continually fail at this, is saving a couple hundred vs buying a round trip ticket worth it.
I know if I were to do it I’d buy round trip just to be able to say I wanted to visit my Mom.

Meanwhile, the same day 2 henchmen are arrested for potential campaign finance violations, House GOP writes a letter to IG asking him to investigate chair of the FEC for “political bias”.

The same FEC that’s been hobbled because they don’t have enough commissioners for a quorum to make binding decisions.

The size of the projection on these guys....most bigliest projection ever. "We're here to root out Ukraine corruption".

Narrator: They always were the corruption.

Watching MSNBC live, I think the talking head was an ex-justice department person, thinks wire tapping was involved, so Giuliani better get his story straight, and something about Pete Sessions might have something to worry about. Spies everywhere.

Meanwhile, Fox is covering the huge line for the Trump rally in Minneapolis. Mayor's pissed because he knows Trump campaign will stiff him for security coverage. So far 800K to various cities have not been reimbursed.

The Presidents re-election head said it’s not the campaigns responsibility it is the secret services job.
Which we all know is false because the event is advertised as a campaign rally.

CNN sources are saying Giuliani is under investigation—specifically they are looking into financial ties between Giuliani and the 2 arrested associates.

Question: Has Barr already recused himself? Because I don’t see the US attorney going after Giuliani’s finances unless Barr says it’s kosher...

I wonder if a Presidential Pardon is incommming
I wonder if another pardon can be issued for the exact same offense 3 months later?

Will Congress tolerate it?

Like the Manafort and Cohen situations that would be predicated on the idea that Ruds hasn't done any state crime which, while early, I'm not sure I'd bet the farm on.

Also as the election nears the political consequences for doing a really big corrupt thing when you're being investigated for really corrupt things is probably not good. Even he knows that.

Additionally he doesn't seem at all interested in pardoning people who do crimes for him. I can only presume because he can't collect off it.

I think Barr is too smart to interfere with the SDNY. There's really nothing linking him directly to this episode & he'll likely keep it that way. He's busy working up a Deep State conspiracy theory investigating the investigators of Russian meddling. Spies & shit.

I can definitely admit... shit is starting to get interesting.

The "caught them trying to leave the country" is nice and juicy.

After Rudy’s two Ukrainian friends were arrested, I must say that his testimony to the Senate Judiciary Committee will be so much more interesting.

I think the hearing has been rescheduled to three days after hell freezes over. The Senate has a very different purpose in this than the House. I'm sure that any Senate questioning of Giuliani would be designed as an opportunity for him to gaslight and muddy the waters. Giving it the imprimatur of the hallowed Senate rather than FOX.

I bet Barr is going to get an earful from Trump about letting this happen under his watch. At least some portions of the justice department can do their work independently of Trump and Barr.

I wonder if this is Christopher Wray flexing his "independent" muscles. Wray was probably willing to sit tight until the perpetrators made moves to flee the country. Wray strikes me as one of the few in the Trump era who eyes "Life After the Dipshit" and his place in it.

What are Barr/Trump going to do? Tell him he can't arrest people for whom there is probable cause to believe laws were broken? Fire him?

Oh, wait.

But it might be a bit trickier this time around, given that impeachment is already in the air. Wray knows this.

They were not yet under subpoena when apprehended but rather scheduled to appear voluntarily. They obviously are now. I wonder if federal marshals will cart them to DC for the occasion...
