The show has very good writers but it's up to the actors to deliver the goods. Charlie's delivery in that show was a big part of it's success, plus the supporting cast played a key role. I personally can't stand Ashton Kutcher, I don't think he's a good actor, he's mediocre at best. Charlie Sheen is not a great actor but he's better than Kutcher IMO. I have no clue how well it'll do, we'll see.

If Charlie's delivery is so great, how come his tour bombed like Hiroshima?

I'm gonna hold judgment until I see it. I don't think it will be as good, but it looks like everyone involved is hell bent on making it work.

just saw my first episode of 2 and a half men and it is absolutely hilarious. cant believe i missed it all these years. i was expecting Sheen to be horrible, but he is so full of win. i cant see the series surviving without him. hope its on netflix. havent been this excited about tv since sunny philadelphia.

That tells me the show will do just fine then.

Not necessarily. You need good writing AND good delivery to make a show work.

Sheen's delivery style was perfect for the writing style. Just because it doesn't work with different writing doesn't mean the writing will work with different delivery.

I started watching the show when it's on rerun. Loved Charlie Sheen's role in it. Fitted him like a glove.
At least the dynamics in the old show worked for me: Sheen as the womanizing jingle-writer, Cryer as the uptight/pathetic family man, Jones as the idiot kid, and lots and lots of hot women

I will have to check it out tonight. I just hope they don't make Kutcher's character as a grown up version of "Kelso".

Good writing? What show have you folks been watching? The few times I tried to watch Two and a Half Men, all I saw was a boring, predictable, one note, situation comedy of zero distinction.

I don't disagree with you. I may have watched the entire show, but I think it's very hit or miss, and that it mostly misses. I think it's worthwhile to admit that comedy is fairly subjective, but at least the Emmy's recognized the Modern Family is a far superior comedy. 😉

No family connection. Supposedly he's a lonely heartbroken internet gazillionaire who buys the house after Charlie dies. Presumably he let's Alan and Jake stay.

seriously? That is retarded. I figured he would be a brother that Allen didn't know about or a son of Charlies or something interesting/related.

Because otherwise the intense intellectual and artistic integrity of the show will be seriously compromised! :whiste:

It just tells me that Sheen is like most actors who have no/crappy material or script to read from, they flounder. Charlie basically sat down in a chair on stage and babbled, he's not a writer.

We understand you dislike Charlie Sheen and love Ashton Kutcher, but you can't say Sheen did a crappy job on that show. Like I said I have no clue how well the show will do but the dynamics will definitely be different.

😳Just watch the first episode, thank god that allen caractère still there, because the sow without him sucks. Hope that it is the last season. They should havec never fired Charlie Sheen. Without him, not worth to watch.

It was funny when they still had Charlie in the show, basically the part when they talked about him, his life, his "acquaintances", etc... after that, it stopped being funny.

I wonder how many episodes they can cram cameos and over the top shenanigans in there just to make it special. I can already see that it's gonna go down hill from here. It looks like they're shaping Kutcher up to be Charlie number 2. No thanks.

Agreed. I watched it a couple times and didn't get the hype at all.
