Or they would blame lack of education and powerty (caused by the western world) for this and not the religious fundamentalism.
 
I used to think that Muslims had some respect for life, but I?m starting to think they don?t. Killing other people and their own just seems so easy for them it?s unbelievable. It?s like there are Countries full of madmen running around killing anything that they don?t like. 🙁

Does that make any sense to anyone? Musharraf cracks down on the extemist groups and they get mad so they throw grenades into a Western Church which will only cause any sane government to crack down even more. It just doesn't make sense to me.

exactly what I was talking about you in the pm, the muslim world is where christianity was 500 years ago. Its no excuse I know but it does explain some things. They belive religion should countrol the country as many christian countries did 500 years ago.

I think the idea is to drive another wedge between the US and Pakestan by making Musharaf look inneffective in his own country.

Its an interesting hypothesis. But Islam also has no central power like other religions do so different sects have no one to answer to when they become extremists.

The Hindu Muslim Conflict goes back as far as the Pakestan Israelie Conflict does.

Yes and thats a big problam that will most likely slow the developement of Islam. But in some ways christianity is the same, there was one big "sect" called catholics that had the pope for a leader and from that have come many different sect and very few of them answer to the same leader as the catholics.

I knew that was coming 😉 I think what it comes down to is when the Christians had their Vatican II they still had enough influence to make the other Christian deminations think about their positions on the same issues.

If you ask any Chrstians (even the Baptists 🙂 ) who is the Central Figurehead for Christians, its still the Pope.

sorry, but I don't know any American Baptist who would choose the pope over Billy Graham. If anyone saw it, Dr. Graham spoke for all protestant Christians at the 9/11 memorial in Washington. It was his greatest speech in the twilight of his career.

Most protestants have nothing against John Paul. He seems like a good enough leader. But Graham had the more influence in his lifetime of saving souls. I don't know of one person who came to faith because of the Pope JP.

We still have plenty of issues with "the Pope," however... like everytime someone blames us for the Crusades or child molesters in the church, for example.

As far as Islam is concerned, it just sucks. 😛

I could be wrong. My father is a big Billy Graham fan as well but IMHO I think the Pope is still regarded by most Christians as the Central Figuread of the Church.
