Sorry but there's much more involved in making that determination than just that.
What resolution do you play at and what does the rest of your system look like?
Are you limited to nVidia or is AMD an option?
I have yet to see the need for more than a single GTX 460. I game at 1920x1200 on mine. I suggest you go with one of them, and add a second if you feel the need for more power.
The main advantage the 570 holds is its memory. I've found that 768mb is plenty for current games at that resolution, though.
you dont SLI now for "future proofing". when the future gets here there will be a single card that will perform the same, cost less, use less power and have newer features. get what you need now and upgrade when it no longer meets your needs.I was thinking of SLI for some futureproofing, if I go to a higher native resolution monitor down the road, or if something like tesselation in games starts to take off. I'm not really all that frequent a hardware updater -- but there's an opportunity to do a major one now, and I wanted to see if I could lock it in for a while.
The SLI 460s will give you greater performance for less money now. The 570 should be plenty of power at that resolution, plus offers the option SLI down the road, making it the better "future-proof" choice at a modest price premium.I was thinking of SLI for some futureproofing, if I go to a higher native resolution monitor down the road, or if something like tesselation in games starts to take off.
