Two 20inch monitors or one 24 inch?

For my new computer I can't decide if I want two 20inch monitors for $110 each or go with one 24 inch monitor at $220. I've never messed with dual monitors before, does it really help productivity?

Depends on what are you trying to do with it. But in my experience, dual monitors does help productivity if you need to do a lot of work, since you get both a) more real estate and b) two separate windows to do things. If you don't need to multitask, then one screen is better because you get better quality and size.

I had 2 19's at home and switched to a 24" a couple years ago. I run 2 19's still at the office.

In all honesty, i'd much rather switch my office to a single 24".

Like Eureka said, what do you use your desktop for? That will determine the response we will give you. If you program, do web/photo/video work, etc...dual monitors are highly recommended. I've been using dual monitors since sophmore year of college (almost two years ago) and I've loved my dual 22" monitors ever since. It really helps with programming and web design work.

Without a doubt...

In Most cases one Big monitor provides better work experience.

There are very specific situations that Dual Monitor provide better environment.

As an Example if you are a Stock trader, you would do better with two Monitors.

Therefore, it depends on what you do with your computer.

P.S. As far as Social Desirability goes, two Monitors are much Better than one because it impresses the Ignorant populous much more than One Monitor.
