To my understanding it was a charity auction. So really to me it seems like someone donated a bunch of money to a charity and got a pretty cool novelty item in return.

Wish i had 11.6k . . .not that I'd spend it on that cpu though.

anyhow, if you guys notice, there's another one up for auction, saw it hovering at 1k currently, surely some big spender will step in at last second to push it over 10k.
