Trump is supposedly signing an executive order on social media soon, and it should appear tomorrow. It's hard to say if we should be worried or not at this point, though: assuming this isn't just hot air, it's probably an investigative panel or something similar. Any attempts to control what Twitter can say would likely get shot down as a First Amendment violation.

Seriously though, it would be good that Trump is being fact-checked. But this might possibly be playing directly into Trump's tiny hands. This could be a huge political issue that Trump can play up right into the next election. Conservatives fighting to have their voices heard and all that. It will take attention away from the ongoing fumbling of the pandemic.

Also... Inventing fake stories discredits all of the stories that are real.

The fake story trending on Twitter is helping Trump not hurting him IMO. His supporters will use this to claim that it proves that all criticism of Trump is a lie

How could this help him? His MAGA asshats already accept his word. What other part of the population will this sway?

Having the base circle their wagons won't win him any converts & won't win back the swing voters he's shedding like crazy. Seniors in particular have soured on him, for good reason. So he's fucking desperate to change the conversation. It's perfectly obvious to anybody with half a brain that Twitter doesn't repress conservative speech in the slightest. Almost every right wing talking head in existence says whatever the fuck they want on Twitter.

I wish life would ban him. But id settle for twitter, news networks, facebook, instagram, printed newspapers etc. Just don't report anything he does or talk about him.
Yes, and the most important of these bans is banishment from the White House come November, effective January 20, 2021.

Sooner would be better but it probably won't happen like that.

I'll take the election, a referendumb on the dufus in chief. Yes, I'd very much prefer something else removing him first, I don't care what. Anything, but I figure that's a long shot.

Don’t worry guys, the “real patriots” will chime in any minute now to tell us this is the last straw for them and they will now be taking their armed protests to the capital to display their utter disgust for this abuse of power and blatant violation of the constitution.

Any minute now...

There is no "executive order" he can sign to stop Twitter from functioning. I'd laugh my ass off if Twitter got angry at him trying and cutting off ALL access, Jesus that would be sweet!.

He's whining about how Twitter is stifling his free speech. On Twitter. Because irony is dead.

Easy way to avoid a fact check. Don't lie.

If Twitter does start fact checking Trump's tweets, Trump should be pleased. Massive job creation.

Massive? Hire one person who clicks the BS button on every Trump tweet. Since he tweets so damn much they might need to hire 2. Definitely don't need to fact check anything he tweets. None of it is accurate or true.

Weird. No conservatives here yet to defend private industry from a tyrannical and oppressive government. It's almost as if they're entirely full of shit.

Hopefully this doesn't spin out of control because it will play straight into Trump's hands. Trump's campaign will be on this...

"Social Media is stifiling conserative free speech" is what Trump will hone in on, and it will be a distraction from the amount dead from COVID-19. It will be a distraction from our bad economy, and the high number of unemployed. It will be a distraction from everything wrong with this presidency. That is dangerous IMO.

Funny how our resident free speech warriors are absent from this thread.

Apparently the gist of Trump's forthcoming EO is that the FTC will be compelled to regulate these companies in a way entirely inconsistent with almost 30 years of precedent simply because Twitter hurt Trump's feels.

Needles to say most legal analysts don't think the odds of success for that in court are real good.

Read the comments from the link, it's probably how Trump does his data collection regarding how he functions to gaslight his minions. Or maybe they gas light him, but it's replies you would expect, exactly. Let the conservative downtrodden rise up again and decree Trump president of the world again, at least one more time!
