In my twitter account (I am a total noob to twitter, been signed up a while but never used it) there's a setting:

[ ] Let others find me by my email address

It was checked by default and I thought to myself "hmm, is it really smart to do that? Wouldn't I be opening myself up to yet more spam?" Yes, I get plenty of stuff already that could be considered spam.

Should I leave that checked or uncheck it?

It may not be what you think. You're email address isn't published anywhere. It's just for when friends sign up for the service and allow their address books to be scanned for contacts that also have accounts so that they're automatically added.

That's my assessment of it anyway.

Yea its basically letting people search for your account by using your email address..its no exposing your email address or anything.. (or shouldnt be).
