Former Screensaver host now has a online media empire. Impressive.

Current hosts include ex-employees from TechTV.

Last Sunday (July 24) the flagship show, this Week in Tech achieved 30,000 online viewers live.

shows like security now and this week in law are pretty good. some of the other ones are a bit spread thin on content.

Tried listening to various shows and they didn't really interest me. They were either consumer fluff and not in the weeds enough or raving about iPad.

I listen to This Week in Tech, TWIT, but as of late it is boring due to the lack of exciting tech news.

I like Windows Weekly the most. He and Paul are a good combination and they talk a lot about the industry as a whole. Both of them have been in the tech industry for decades so it's nice to have that experience.

I enjoy TWiT, TNT, Windows Weekly, MacBreak Weekly (although they fly their mac flags a little to proudly) and Security Now.

I am a little tired of Leo flogging his bricks to help pay for his new studio, but I guess it did come in at over twice what they originally budgeted.

That's what I like about Paul Thurrott. He's pretty cynical about Microsoft as a whole and seems almost shocked when they come out with something great or the company moves in the right direction.

They have only mentioned the bricks a couple of times on Windows Weekly. I'd probably buy one if it were $90 or so, but then I guess they wouldn't make enough money.

Anything to back that up?

You mean the guy who claimed Windows XP's raw socket support was going to take the internet down?

http://www.theregister.co.uk/2001/05/31/windows_xp_will_make_internet/

Or the guy who ran Windows 2K up until just recently because he thought it was more secure than XP, Vista, 7? Hey Steve, when was the last W2K update? Wouldn't that make it less secure than the newer Windows OS's?

Or the guy whose answer to browser exploits is to completely shut off JavaScript? What kind of fuckwit would recommend that?

Or the guy who comes up with some POS called GENESIS (Gibson's ENcryption-Enhanced Spoofing Immunity System, lulz) which turns out to be a half-assed copy of SYN COOKIE?

This guy is not fit to be in security. He should be running a museum of ancient technology and obsolete software.

So many Steve Gibson haters lol. He's a nice guy, and provides good information MOST of the time. Whenever he gets something wrong, the viewers usually point it out and he corrects himself on the next podcast.

I like Leo but the begging for people to buy bricks to help build the studio is ridiculous, the guy makes a killing and whines and cries for people to donate

edit: just saw others notice it as well

From what I understand, the only income he takes from TWiT are the donations (and he caps it a certain limit). Everything else goes back into the business.

is he? the overhead of all those employees has to be paid, just how many profitable podcasts are there really?
