Twins vs Angels in the ALCS (Angels up 2-1)

Since I'll be at the game tonight, I figured I'd post the thread now. I think the Twins will take it in 6 games. I think some of the factors will be:

+ The Twins pitchers need to have solid performances. Mays can have really poor performances and then come back looking awesome.
+ Homeruns will be a huge factor in the Dome. The Angels especially. The Dome is a huge advantage for the Twins. They know the playing field and and exactly how the ball will bounce. The Dome is also a paradise for homerrun hitters and the Twins defense can't shutdown homeruns.
+ The Twins seemed to have calmed down and started to play good defensive ball. If their batting ignites, the Angels will definitely have troubles in the Dome.
+ The Angels need to take more than one game from the Twins in the Dome. Tonight would be their best opportunity. This is a nearly impossible feat when the Twins are playing at thier norm or their best at home.
+ The Twins need to take at least one from the Angels in their park.
+ Finally, it really comes down to........Which team wants it more? The Contraction Kids or the team that hasn't seen a World Series in their history.

This really ought to be great, fast baseball with fantastic showings by any number of players on both sides.

Hey dude😛 Your last point is actually a bit incorrect. The Angels were also another team that had contraction written on it, just not as prominently as your Twins. Disney has been trying their hardest to sell the team with little interest. Now it seems that Eisner isn't ready to part with the whole team just yet, stating that he would be interested in remaining a partner.

Anyway, I really hope the contraction talk stops. It would suck to lose either team; any team really(except maybe the devilrays).

So, GO HALOS!!!!

GO HALOS!!!!

I'm extremeley happy for the Angels this year. I feel they're playing with great heart (not saying that the other teams are not) and I really think they will win it all this year. GO HALOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another good analysis of this series over at ESPN:

ESPN

The Angels should have less trouble than the A's at the Dome (all night games, fly balls should be easier to catch & Salmon, Erstad, Anderson have played a combined 100 games at the Dome in their career).

Looks like the Angels will be the underdogs in this series.

Go Angels!

I'd like to see the Twins go the the WS.

It wasn't too long ago when they are on the verge of folding the franchise.

They are a young team with a great deal of determination. Unlike those Yankees whose roster is way overpaid.

Well, the Angels have have mix of young guys and veterans, the latter of which are finally getting to see some October action. You'll know the names Anderson, Erstad and Salmon by the time the season is done.

Fly balls are the only thing to worry about. Can any of the Angels bunt on the carpet? Are they confident in the hops of the ball? The fly ball is a bit easier to see at night, but Torii Hunter said it all early this year when he explained that you have to learn to listen to catch the ball in the dome over using you're eyes to catch it.

Is the World Series played in the AL or NL ballpark this year? I know they alternate, but last year I was deployed to the Middle East and missed the games, and I have no memory of where it was played in 2000.

If the Twins can knock off Anaheim (as I fervently hope, against all odds), I imagine they could hang with any potential NL opponent if they have home-field advantage (as they did in '87 and '91).

I guess we'll just have to see. Both of these teams never met in October. But judging from the regular season, the Angels have done reasonably well at the Metrodome.

the angels are the better team, period. more wins in the toughest division in baseball.

#1 batting average
T-#1 team era
#2 fielding

the only thing in the twins favor is the metrodome. if the angels can completely spank the yankees i dont think the twinkies will offer any more resistance.

Hope the Angels take it so the WS will be played in real stadiums, not that garbage bag of a stadium in MN .

I think the Angels should be favored, having set the franchise victories record in the toughest division in baseball and confidently knocking out the Yankees. The Twins home playoff invincibility of a decade ago really has little bearing on this series (Gardenhire essentially is the only holdover). If the Angels can handle Yankee Stadium, they can handle the Metrodome (not to say it's easy or predicting it'll work out that way, but the venue doesn't bother them). If I were to guess, it'll go no fewer than 6 games.

However, I'd much prefer to see Selig handing the championship trophy over to the Twins later this month. That would be classic.

Haha. Edison is a pretty nice looking field, one of the best in my opinion. If they play the Giants in the World Series, fans will get to see games played at some real nice ballparks.

I don't care where its played as long as the Angels are in it and the Giants don't win.

Twins better win in 6 cause I won't be able to make it to the 7th game!!! :Q:Q:Q:Q:Q:Q:Q

Looking forward to the game tomorrow Aceman! 😀😀😀😀😀😀

Good game, good pitching and defense. Not really a punishing win as it remained 2-1 the entire game, but the Twins pitcher 0wned though. Hopefully the Angels can get some more bat on the ball...

Really stark contrast from all the scores in their previous games. I think it will last 7, and I don't know who will win but I hope the Angels will.

I also think it was a great game. Both teams played realy well. I would have liked to see Mays stay in the last inning, I think he could have pulled it off no problem.
I wish I was back in Minnesota to be at the games.

Go Twins!
