TwinMOS DDR 333 RAM?

I'm currently in Taiwan at the moment. I resisted buying the Abit KR7A RAID (which was priced at $4500 NT, $129 USD) but I did pick up some DDR 333 memory. The manufacturer was a company by the name of TwinMOS. It was the first memory I saw advertised at 333mhz. It was relatively cheap...$40 for 256MB a stick. Anyone have any experience with TwinMOS company? The chips used on the memory are from Hynix (Hyundai?).

When you get to a computer with some overclocking capabilities, slap that DDR333 in and give it a go at 166MHz. If all goes well, then more power to ya!

i think some online retailers in US do carry twinMOS ram. But they hardly knows to most consumer over here. They are one of the biggest OEM supplier in Asia. That abit you were talking about ..is it the kt266a chipset board with raid? If it is--by all means you should get it And also-It's a custom in Asia to bargain hard before you buy stuffs So you maybe can drive those prices down

the price of Abit mb in asia is at 2themax level (2themax = Epox),
it's way overpriced in the US.

I'm working on a Laptop right now in Taiwan and it doesn't have Adobe Acrobat installed. I'm on 56k so it would take forever to download Acrobat.


Abit is pretty cheap over here but there not that many retailers here carry them. I bargained the price of the board down to $4200 NT. (Which is around $120 USD). Sales tax is already included in the cost so $4200 NT is the final price.

I don't have any board that can hit 166mhz FSB yet. I was waiting for Abit KR7A RAID but I guess that board will not have the floating divider. I'm going to wait to get the Abit board until I get back to the States. I'm too worried that I might get a bad dead board when won't know until I get back to the States which would be too late.



They also sell KingsMAX DDR 300 Tiny BGA DDR for $40 USD also. It seems memory prices over here are not that high and don't seem to be on the rise.

jimmygates, cool finds. TwinMos was the company that produced the PC166 sdram memory for overclockers a couple of months back. Seeing how DDR333 is 166ddr I'd bet that you got a great deal, AND some of the first REAL DDR333 memory available.

TwinMos makes good memory. It will run as good any other memory with the same specs and probably overclock a bit. Almost all the DDR333 sticks I have seen have the Hynix or Kingmax chips on them.

How cheap are things in Tawain?? I have a lot of relatives there and maybe they could buy me stuff and ship it here for cheaper than I could buy and ship from the states....

Things here are pretty cheap but they cost of frieght itself would just make the price the same or more than the U.S. If you just so happen to stop by Taiwan, it would be worth it to buy a couple of things. I think however if you go over $500 USD, the U.S. Customs will try to tax you.


I'm heading to the Computer Expo to see if there is any more TwinMOS sticks left. I think I'll carry some over to the States

jimmygates, you got 2nd generation (4th is the newest), TSOP, "A" grade (better than B), DDR266 chips on your module.

You can get more info on Hynix DDR numbering system here.

I am afraid that they are not DDR333.

The KingMax DDR333 RAM has made it to this side of the Pacific. Check PriceWatch for vendors and prices. I wonder how much cheaper is it at Taiwan.

I checked vendors in Taiwan and these Kingsmax DDR 333 chips are running roughly $1600 NT. That comes out to $45.72 USD. The price however will be fluxuating up and down this week.

The lowest I found in the US is $67 plus shipping for the 256MB sticks.
