how is it working on your card?

jut got the demo installed and going to mess with it.. interesting it "optimizes shaders" every time you change video settings. anyone know what that does specifically?

curious to know what kind of resolutions ppl are finding playable with their current video cards.

working ok overall for me, with the exception of shadows... gonna play with it a bit... pretty game from a gfx standpoint

I did find this interesting (from the readme.txt):

========================================================================
Troubleshooting
========================================================================

VIDEO CARDS

- It is highly recommended to go to your video card manufacturer's
website and download updated drivers for your card. For your
convenience the addresses are listed here:

ATI: http://ati.com/support/driver.html
Nvidia: http://nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp

- NVIDIA DRIVERS
Battlefield 2 requires NVIDIA users to have the very latest drivers.

We highly recommend you upgrade to the latest NVIDIA drivers. For your
convenience the latest version (77.30) is bundled with this demo.

To install the drivers follow these steps:

- Open the START Menu and highlight 'All Programs'
- From the menu that appears highlight 'EA GAMES' and then
'Battlefield 2 Demo'
- Now click the 'Install NVIDIA Drivers' icon

This will start the NVIDIA Driver install program.

the nv driver site referred to has 71.89, and there is no shortcut for the 77.30 as stated in the readme... I did however find it in the program folder, and am installing to see if the shadow issue i experienced is better.

I'm having serious issues with BF2. I've got an X800XL.

I have AA enabled in my drivers, but I'm getting none in BF2. Also, this game keeps crashing to desktop on me, and I've gotten a bug twice where the entire screen becomes thick striped horizontal bands; first time I had to quit BF, second time it fixed itself after about 15 seconds, but by that time I had died.

FYI crashing to the desktop is usually an application problem, not a driver problem.

I'm running an X800 Pro with 5.6 CCC and I can't use AA. I'm running at 1152x864 at around 50FPS. But it start to lag in FPS after a few rounds. Restarting the game fixes the issue. And my case has never been hotter .

Did you enable AA in the BF2 video settings?

I wish I could play the BF2 demo, it's driving me insane! My video card is at the manufacturer right now getting fixed though. Oh well, by the time I get it back I'll have the full version already since I preordered it on-line.

It sucks that the bundle the latest nVidia drivers with the demo.
Why should I have to download an extra 25MB for something I will not use? Stupid IMO.

I'd take downloading old 3dfx drivers over that STEAM bullshi* Valve stuffs down my throat John Holmes style.

The demo has issues with NV cards as well, not just ATi's. But they did include beta drivers for NV cards, and not ATi's to allegedly fix the problem for NV users.

5.6's work fine, with no coruption for me. Its not worth me going back to 5.1's to have AA. I can wait for a fix from either ATi, or the retail game, or a patch.

The shader optimizing is a little strange. I would like to know whats going on in the background, and it makes for longer load times.

edit, AA does work for me. I had it forced thru control panel, and forgot I did. I changed it to app preference, and selected it in the game, and it worked fine.

yes, awful that they MAKE you download 25mb xtra with their FREE software that you will spend countless hour enjoying... they (dice) should be chastised!

it did help me. normally I only run the official drivers from nv's site unless i have a specific problem. the 71.89 on nv's site displayed "blocks" for shadows, and the bundled driver resolved the issue. it was very helpful for me as i didn't have to search the net for a beta driver.

People not using the 77.30 drivers are having problems which is why Nvidia relased the 77.30 drivers for BF2!

I went to Nvidia's website and it only shows 71.89.... are those beta drivers you are refering to? Will these betas screw up other things, are they stable? I don't like betas :(

Edit...... answered my own question: news.... When will these become official drivers?

as mentioned in a previous post, it's already on your hard drive -- look in the bf2 demo install directory ;)

I have a radeon 9700 pro and everytime I try to start a single or multiplayer game it almost gets to the loading screen before it crashes to desktop... Every single time. For some reason I got it working for about an hour last night but not anymore. I updated to the latest catalyst drivers and still nothing.

There's the 3 month delay for bug fixing at work for you. EA Games are getting very ridiculous.
