Trendy = 11yo ?

My daughter and wife are reading them, so I tried the first 2 out. Definitely aimed for the teen crowd.

And really, how many freaking series about love triangles between a girl, a vamp, and a werewolf need to exist?

BAN!

See that's what I originally though, but talking to some of my college girl friends, they apparently dig Twilight as well.

One of the ladies I work with has started to read it. Like she just opened the book right now and is reading it as I type.

My fiancee (aged 29) decided to give them a try to see what the hype was all about. We flew out of state to visit my parents and I zipped thru my reading material on the first leg of the journey so then I decided to start reading them.

They are very poorly written. The author is not a polished writer by any extent of the imagination. I figure they are only popular because the tween girl crowd must be picking them up. Basically the second book (with the very few instances of arguably two entertaining scenes) was nothing more than hundreds of pages of the main female lead moaning and pining for her love. I had to force myself to finish reading the second because I refused to get bested by the book.

Now all that being said the third book is arguably entertaining, but I don't know if my literally senses has had the snot beat out of them and as such I can't tell a good read from a bad one.

i saw the movie. there were 5 guys in the theater and a bunch of hot women. a few teens accompanied by milfs.

my wife and daughter both enjoyed the book and the movie.
i haven't read the book, but thought the movie was good.

I started reading it after my wife burned through the books so quickly. The writing is terrible. I cannot understand how it is so popular. I doubt that I will finish reading it. It is so redundant. I get it Bella is attracted to Edward.

Also, if a male writer would describe every curve of a teenage female character in a novel like Stephenie Meyer does of Edward he would probably be accused of being a pedophile.

After getting through the first chapter, it seems like Bella is full of herself.

I dont think trudging through 2 books worth of unreadable drivel then starting on the third counts as "besting the books"

I unfortunately saw the movie. My wife loved it, I couldn't understand how Edward liked that girl, she is just miserable. I think she smiled twice in the entire movie. There are her friends frolicking around laughing and smiling, having fun, meanwhile Bella is off in the corner being all emo pining after Edward, needless to say I didn't get it. Is she that bad in the book as well?
