  • Haven't heard of them since I have no time for music.

I don't hate them but I have major issues with their live show, which is basically the singer and drummer playing along to a backing track.

You forgot one of their best songs, House of Gold!

Honestly, I'm surprised they blew up as much as they did. If you grew up with anxiety then you'll recognize it in their songs, which is one of the things that originally made me interested in them, despite their albums being kind of rough around the edges for a commercial debut. But I think it hit home with a lot of people, especially the stuff about student loans, having to get a job, "wake up you need to make money", etc. - I think mentally a lot of us are still thinking of our childhood & high school days, even if you're long past that, before we were forced into the real world, so the lyrics kind of hit home & the songs are catchy.

imo if they were to hire a professional song designer, someone who could take their concept, clean it up, and make it universally appealing, they'd blow up like crazy. That's what they did with Taylor Swift...her early stuff had fairly simple, relatable lyrics that resonated with a lot of people & were catchy, but were also very cleaned up for the consumer audience, which has kept her brand strong & growing throughout the years.

The entire premise of their main hit is about not growing up and wanting to be kids. I get the premise of it, but eventually everyone needs to grow up. The problem is, this millennial generation never wants to grow up. They want things like jobs handed to them on a silver platter because that's how they lived their childhood. So songs like this come as no surprise, and it's just pathetic at the same time.

Twenty-one Pilots are my daughter's favorite band at the moment, and I thought this too at first about the song Stressed Out. Then I listened to the song and there is not a single line in it that speaks of entitlement or wanting things like "jobs handed to them on a silver platter."

The song does speak about missing childhood because adulthood is more stressful, but the do wake up and make money, yo. And it seems the band has been busting their ass to make money and are successful at it. There is a big difference between complaining about how hard working is and expecting to get something for nothing.

You can talk shit about millennials being entitled if you want to, but the band Twenty-one Pilots isn't a very good example.

They've been my favorite band over the past year or so. Vessel is way better than Blurryface. Car Radio is definitely my #1 song, but it's really easy to listen to their whole albums.

I like them when the guy is singing, but his awkward white boy rapping is annoying. Heathens is the best song they've put out since it doesn't really have any of that.

My wife really wanted to go see them but tickets were like $130 each. Yeaaaahhh... To see just what you explained...i was not interested. They just don't strike me as a live band worth seeing.

Not for me, listened to a couple of songs and gave it a try but not my type of music.

I love Stressed Out, but most of their other stuff is like my worst nightmare of what pop music has become. Reminds me a little of back in the day when drum machines were the rage. I loved the music, but it could have been so much better without the sterile percussion. I couldn't envision paying to see a band like this. I'd rather drink PBR at the local dive and listen to 22 year-olds play Stones and NIN covers.

(BTW, what is 631 million views on YouTube worth? Is this how musicians make money off of songs today?)

"Wish we could turn back time. To the good dope days".

(They claim that's not what they're saying ... yeah, right. The good dope days were the best.)
