Tweakboy will soon buy a GTX 460 1GB :)

If it will only be on par with the 460 1GB in performance, I'd like to see it come in at $179, to give Nvidia a reason to drop their prices.

Now, that's where I stand. Anything less will get a big yawn from me.

Well it's $179 and is equal (or a tiny bit faster) than the 460 1GB. There's your killer. 460 prices have fallen quite a bit.

And this is why Tweakboy was told to wait. The cards are priced aggressively and the prices of the nVidia cards has plummeted. Now it's a good time to buy if the $180-200 is your price point.

We're not arguing semantics. Look up the definition of killer in the dictionary. It's plain as day that it does not apply to what you are describing. So don't get upset with me and put words in my mouth.

If we're going to compare MSRP, the GTX 460 1GB stands at $229. Using this vantage point, I'd like to see the HD6850 come in at $199, with performance about 10% faster than the GTX 460, which I guess would be ~HD5850 performance. If it will only be on par with the 460 1GB in performance, I'd like to see it come in at $179, to give Nvidia a reason to drop their prices.

The cheapest 460 1 gig is $189 BEFORE $20 rebate, and I just got a superclocked twin frozer 768 meg for $170 ! And yes that dropped $10 from last week, big deal.

Markfw, I hope you not making the mistake of get the ECS brand, they one looks too cheap to be quality. Well, I did the same search on egg this afternoon as well ;] I remember gigabyte has one for just 10 more AR. that'd be my pick.

The hundreds of games of max settings SC2 since upgrading from a HD 4770 just 2 months ago were totally worth paying $50 more for my 1Gb GTX 460. I had only waited so long to upgrade because the market was bad AND mostly that I didn't think any game was worth it (until SC2).
