I am finishing up my modest overclocking efforts (Newcastle 3000 to 2300 MHz) and have turned my attention to tightening timings of memory and such (1T instead of 2T, etc....).

What else can you tweak?

I discovered that my HD was operating at ATA 33 instead of the 66 it was rated at. After toying with it extensively, I gave up and ordered a new SATA drive.

What are all the components (after overclocking) that you can tweak and upgrade to enhance performance?

  • Processor
    Mobo
    RAM
    HDD
    Vid card
    others?

What are all the Bios settings you can tweak to enhance performance?
  • AGP window
    IDE settings
    others....?

Not having this stuff all tweaked to the max strikes me like increasing horsepower on an old camaro so that you can spin the tires like mad.....but....you should prpbably get fatter tires so you can put that power on the road where it makes you really go faster.

COOL! that is excellent. I have been looking for more complete explanations of the BIOS settings. the manuals are always rather cryptic.

Agreed. Settings like:
CPU Interface. Enable/Disable are the choices. And the manual says:

"This setting enables or disables the CPU Interface."
<*blink blink*> Ok, thank you, that was VERY damn informative!!!!

I have a manual to a 386 motherboard, and it was thick - and entirely English too, not one of those huge manuals that is translated to every language known to exist. It gave detailed explanations, like a paragraph each, for all the BIOS settings, and there were a LOT of them.
