I'm in the market for a TV around $400-$450. It seems that I can either get a good, flat, 27" (Sony Wega / Pansonic Tau / etc.) or a more average, curved 32" TV. For a medium / smallish room (~13' TV - Couch distance). What would you do?

Peace,
will

1) Go to CostCo or Sam's Club
2) Buy a Panasonic Tau (better) or Toshiba (better value)

For a smallish room like yours, I would just get a nice Sony Wega (27").

I think I saw some nice Panasonic Tau 27" at CostCo for $540 I wanna say?

They were BEAUTIFUL but I'd get a "lesser" TV, a Toshiba 32" those 5" are definitely noticeable.

13' TV-couch distance is pretty big for a "medium/smallish room". My living room is 16x13 and I sit about 9' from the TV. I also have a 27" Tau. I wish the set were bigger but the good 32" sets are $800+ and I'd rather save for a widescreen HDTV set in a couple of years.

The PIP 27" Tau costs $549 retail. The non-PIP costs $499. I found mine as a Circuit City customer return (with extended warranty) for $449.

I think it was the PIP model and I called the local video dealer, CostCo's price was at least $50 below retail from what I remember.

I always check CostCo first before buying electronics or computer equipment, some of their prices are outrageous!

Go for the 32, WHY?........

There?s no replacement for displacement?

I have a 32, and wish I would have gotten a 36, the 27 in my bedroom is ok. But Sams is a good place to look for a good 32.

I saw the 32" Panasonic Tau at my local Costco this evening for $799. A few months back, people were buying the 27" Akai (same as the 27" Samsung) for $379 at Sam's Club. The 27" Akai featured component video input along with the 16:9 "squeeze" option which will give you a better picture while watching wide-screen DVDs.
