Who has a TV wonder and got it working under XP. I can't get it to work. I followed the instructions in the 2 sticky posts above. I didn't do all of the stuff in here. It is a little bit past my scope of computer literacy. I tried to un-install all my ATi stuff and then install fresh SW like in this post. I then did the AVman workaround. I can load the program and watch video. If I try to capture it, it records fine, then when I hit stop, my screen is garbled. When I try to run the captured video, it tells me that it can run the program. I am about ready to trash this thing. If anyone can help, I would really appreciate it.

If you can't help, what is another good TV tuner/video capture card. Thanks.

I haven't had any problems with my TV Wonder under XP. That said, the ATI software is terrible for the most part. Don't use it. There are tons of better capturing programs out there that you can use with the TV Wonder.

TV wonders suck.. i have one in my XP comp, thought it was defective because of the exact same thing... the video is garbled... its not so much the card, as the software.... ATi has lame ass support for this particular cards, its like they don't even support them anymore

Anyways, there are ways around the garbled video problem... try changing your color depth while video is active, try holding the SHIFT key when you double click the video application to start it..etc etc... check out the Rage3D forums, there's a sticky there about it.

Personally, i use dscaler.

My TV Wonder (PCI) works just fine in XP for watching TV. I do not use any ATi drivers or software. Try This Driver out along with DScaler.

Oh Man! I have a ATI TV Wonder VE and I have the same problem in WinXP. Garbled video when it starts, garbled video when I stop recording, garbled video everywhere! I agree with everyone here that the ATI drivers for it are just terrible! I get to to work when I hold down the SHIFT+CTRL keys when I start it or when I record stuff. It seems to work and I don't get the garbled video crap (most of the time). Another way is to open IE right after you start the TV program.

Currently I'm using MMC 7.4 Drivers because when I used the 7.6 drivers I get no audio. The garbled crap is gone with 7.6 but no audio...WTF!!! They solve one problem and create another.

I used to be a die hard ATI user back in the day; I had Mach8, Mach32, Mach64 versions of their video cards and had no problems. Their drivers were rock solid back then but now they are questionable. Its like their whole driver development team jumped ship or something. Its just recently that their drivers are becomming more stable (ie Catalyst drivers), but thats for their video cards, not TV cards.

Yes...... Get rid of the ATi drivers and software. The linked drivers and DScaler should do the trick.

Also, will dscaler come with a menu tree like MMC does. Or do I have to open the tv with something else? Thanks for the help. I went with ATI because of the awesome power of the radeon 9700 pro that I have. Thought that if they could do so great with the vid card, then the capture card would be good too. If only the radeon AIW 9700 was out when I bought my vid card, I probably wouldn't have this problem.

Thanks for all the help guys. The dscaler and the drivers that you sent me are great. Everything is great except for the copyprotection on my home DVD player. I just hope that when I install my DVD recorder, I can take still frames.

I really want to get rid of my ati tv wonder as well, it works in XP but it super buggy, the channels turn really slow and sometimes not at all and if I'm lucky I'll get the audio as well:|

But one feature I really like is the guideplus software, does dscaler have any kind of support for it or anything similar to it?
I just want to watch tv, recording and things like that are not a priority.
