tv tuner to router - wndr3700

Hey guys just picked up a netgear wndr3700 and WOW! it's everything it's supposed to be. What i was thinking during my mad scientist time M/F 12-12:15 was when dd-wrt hits the wndr3700, couldnt a tv tuner be connected to the usb port and used similarly to the HD Homerun. Where as it's either picked up by media center on the network or... insert idea here. Just wondering.. technically it should work, maybe mythtv server? and myth client elsewhere

I was thinking of getting this router. What is the best place to get it for the best price? Any problems in setting it up? How is the video streaming? Any downsides to this router?

I picked it up at bestbuy only because it was local, good places are always frys.com and newegg.com if in stock. Setting up is a piece of cake. Complete plug and play.
It does comes with a cd which basically sets up a network drive when you plug in a HDD or USB key, you could do it on your own if you're familiar with the process.

My setup is linksys N Pci card in my media center desktop, xbox 360 with wireless adapter, and old laptop with BG wifi (i do have a wusb600n but have not set that up yet)

router groups BGN on 2.4 and AN on 5ghz

360 - before router i had to use ethernet since wifi lagged, after router i can use the adapter on the .11A 5ghz frequency... rock solid
Desktop - no difference really before or after but overall more speed on transfers and Netflix barely ever stutters.
Laptop - Same

The interface is easy to understand and setup for anyone and it also has many options to configure, if tweaking is your thing.

Using it for a week now and i dont see any downsides... and from what i've read, neither does any1 really. g'luck

Not sure what you paid, but I just picked up a WNDR3700 at Tiger Direct for $159 that comes with FREE Shipping and No Tax, bringing the final total to $159 delivered via Ground in 3-7 days. Not a bad deal.

I just ordered one last night (and saw this post this morning). I got it at Amazon for 159 as well, free shipping.

I am waiting for full DD-WRT and OpenWRT support to be there for this model. It runs a build of OpenWRT from the factory, but it is an older build using the 2.4 kernel with a lot of functionality stripped out and a custom GUI. People are actively porting it to the 2.6 kernel as I type this, so it is only a matter of time before we gain access to all the other benefits of these firmwares. The hardware really is top notch, 8MB ROM, 64MB RAM, dual radios, extremely fast processor! I almost can't wait. I have really been looking for something to replace my ageing WTR54GL...

I have one of the same netgear models without the gigabit support . I opened it up to see what the hardware was like. This has been the only consumer router where I was impressed. I have never seen a board layout and design done so well and I worked with some really top engineers. I got an email out to netgear requesting information on who designed it and did the layout because I would really like to know, I was that impressed.

Everything was 100% like it should be, usually I can see where traces are wrong, parts should be better, etc but the layout was just perfect. Don't know who they got on the new designs but they know what they are doing.

I want this router so bad, but I wasn't sure if it was worth the money. Sounds like it is. I will be picking it up within the next couple months. It definitely has some pretty good hardware inside of it, and I'm really curious to see what tinkering can be done to it once it has had more time in the hands of the consumers.

I ordered mine a few days ago and do not have it yet, but was wondering if I could plug a USB hub into the router and have multiple devices such as a USB printer, numerous Hard Drives, etc? It appears from their literature that it only supports one device? Is that true?

i couldnt find anything specifically on that, and havent tested it, but... i do believe it will work with a hub, almost 100% positive

EDIT: just read a few places that yes you can, and one recommended using a powered usb bus as to not tax the router's usb power supply
