TV Tuner Remote - Possible (or Alternatives)?

Hi all!

Santa says I'm getting a TV tuner card for XMas. Probably the ATI TV Wonder VE. Anyway, this sounds great because now I can watch TV in my bedroom (no money for a whole other TV :(). And this sounds great, except, how am I going to change channels when I'm lying in bed?

There's no remote support on the ATI TV Wonder VE, which I assume means there's no IR connection/port on the card so that I could use a remote. But is it possible to get an IR receiver on my computer and hook up the software to support a remote control for the tuner? If not, what are my alternatives? Wireless keyboard and/or mouse? A different TV card?

I've read many reviews and many fellow AT'ers love the ATI TV Wonder (and the VE), so I thought to go with that. Are there any other good cards out there that are capable of handling a remote (if there's no way to do it with the ATI)? If so, please advise.

Santa and I both thank you for your input. :D

i'm using a TV Wonder and it's an excellent card. i'm also using a remote for it btw.
You can get one of these babies off e-bay for 10 bucks. (Run a search for "Logitech Remote")
I have the remote set up to work with my TV Tuner, winamp and power dvd.

I have the ATI TV Wonder and use an X10 Mouse Remote and it works awesome. Changes channels, volume, mute, etc. Go to X10 and check it out and look around for coupons or specials for X10. I paid about $35 shipped for mine. The remote can be programed to control anything/any program on your rig. Just don't use the X10 software and use an idependantly developed program called Max10.

<< plug a vcr to it >>

LOL! I feel stupid that I didn't think of this. I just brought the last of my stuff home out of storage where I went to college, and one of the things was a VCR that doesn't play tapes (but it sure does change channels! :)).

But the other suggestions sound pretty good. Ideally, I'd just like to be able to mess with the tuner, the volume, DVD playback, and maybe Winamp. Both the Logitech and the X10 Remote sound good. The VCR can't handle all that, but those inexpensive remotes sound like the way to go.

Thanks for the tips! Time for some directed research! :)
