I have a Radeon 8500 128mb (non LE) and I am using a PCI TV Wonder VE. When I click to use the TV tuner it gives me this message: "The TV player failed to initialize the video."
I have installed the newest drivers off the ati.com website (the newest WDM) and the newest MMC 7.1. I am not using the beta version. Any suggestions?

how exactly did u install your tv tuner?

mine works fine for me. i unpacked the setup files. then i go through control panel to manually install the drivers (i click on install drivers for all unrecognized hardware). then i do a reboot. then i install multimedia center and everything works fine.

 I have heard of a LOT of problems with ATI's PCI TV cards in WinXP. But if someone else has one working then there's always hope! Best of luck.

I had a similar problem...For some reason the WDM drivers don't seem to install properly, I don't know why????
Do a "Clean" uninstall of all the ATI drivers, for the vid card and for the TV tuner, MMC and all...
Then reinstall the latest official Video drivers and then the previous MMC drivers... they put the WDM setup files in a temporary directory and you manually install them(The Radme file tells you how to do it)
Reboot and it should work... ;-)
So much for Plug and Play...

I've had my TV Wonder PCI card (not VE) for a while now and haven't had any real problems with it under WinXP.. the thing with the WDM drivers is that you have to let WinXP detect the TV Wonder.... then extract the WDM drivers to a temporary directory somewhere.. then go to the Device Manager and select the "Multimedia device" or whatever thats listed and not installed properly... click update driver and point it to the directory wit the WDM drivers.. that's how you've gotta install it

Thank you everybody for responding to my problem. My Tv now works fine (minus the fact that I have to push shift+ctrl when i start it due to the fact that ATI still has problems)--I could download the beta drivers to fix it but shift+ctrl doenst bother me too much

i think it also works when you leave your finger down on the left mouse button while loading it up
