okay i barley know what a tv tuner is. all i now is its a pc card that lets u watch tv. u u have to connect it to anything? or does it use its own antenna? is it free to watch tv after u buy the card? or what? more info?

ya, a tv tuner is just that..........it lets u watch tv on your computer. Most tv tuners also have video in that let you capture video from an svideo or composite connection (like a vcr or game console).

You connect the card into a pci slot and would also need a connection from the tv card to your sound card (unless the tv tuner has an audio decoder).

thats pretty much it i think.

You use an antenna or a coax cable (like you hook upto a cable tv outlet) to get the signal. Most people hook up their cards to a cable outlet in the wall. If your house already subscribes to cable tv it it free. Works just liek a tv.

you get the card and either plug it into a USB 2.0 port or a PCI slot, then install drivers and software, and then you can watch and record TV.

If you have cable it should be able to tune into most stations. if you have digital cable they make cards specifically for that or you can plug your cable box into the card.

they have cards that will allow to receive digital cable without having a digital cable box?

I haven't tried them, just noticed them when shopping for an analog card.

Those are for satellite, not digital cable.

There are no products that can decode digital cable; the cable companies won't let them make them. They would need to support CableCARD, and they do not appear very interested in letting anything outside of their immediate control (such as a cable box) do so.
