What are the alternatives to the Happuage PVR-150? Looking for Hardware based Mpeg2. Suggestions.

that's a sweet looking card actually... nice

Nice, but more than triple the cost of the PVR-150MCE (although obviously the PVR-150 doesn't do HDTV!)

The Hauppauge PVR150/250/350/500 cards seem to be by far the best deal for a standard-def MPEG2 hardware encoder card. PQ is very good as well (at least once I found the capture adjustment settings 😛).

I really am not worried about HD, won't have an hd tv for probably 30 years or so, at the rate I'm going. Just trying to find some comparrsion ards to PVR-150, ATI has the e-wonder for MCE, and it appears that Avermedia may have one also, anyone else?

But you already do have one. It may not be a 50" plasma, but the monitor your looking at will display HD just fine.

I hear too many bad things about the ATI tuner cards. I use a software based Avermedia card, absolutely love it and its software, i've been using it for two years, they constantly update the software with the latest best stuff. I'd highly recommend it. They also seem to offer better than average remote controls as far as quality and use is concerned.

I would also look here:

AVS

Damnit there was also another site but I cannot find it now.

I will post back if I find it.
