Is it possible to plug the Sat cable into a TV Tuner card and record on your hard drive in real time?

If the tuner card has input (ie, S-video) supported by the satellite receiver, then I don't see why it wouldn't work.

No. Well, not directly at least. If your sat set top box has a coaxial out, then with certain cards you can run the coax from your stb into your tuner card and then it might record.

ya you can...did it...amke sure the cable connecting your deocoder to your tv tuner is a good one to avoid loss of signals...i was using WinDVR to record...you can even record directly into DivX if fancy it...minimum a 1GHZ pc needed

You can record 352X240 resolution video and higher with a PII 450MHZ system... 1GHZ is overkill and doesn't provide any more then a 450MHZ system. Maybe you don't have a hardware decoder?
