TV to computer

I have a 27" Zenith HD Ready TV and it has an RGB input can I connect my computer to it? I have the cable but when it posts I can see that ok but as soon I'm in windows it say invalid HD signal is there a way to correct this?
The Tv Manual say
"Connect HD-RGB here.
RGB Format: EDTV Set top Box 640 x 480p
RGB Format: HDTV Set top Box 1920 x 1080i"

I tried Powerstrip but don't know what settings to use
