tv out

so the tv out on my laptop is kinda blurry, i have the resolution @ 640x480. Its running out via svideo. now ive seen online where they sell VGA>Component cables, will this work on my non HDTV and produce a better picture?


also will a newer card (such as a fx5700 personal cinema) in my desktop yeild the same results?

tehy will always be blurry because of a TV's dot pitch.

Some have a flicker option might want to dig through your graphics settings this can help a little but is no solution to what a real monitor can do compared to standard TV.

I Dont believe that will work.

If they did work I suspect more would buy them instead of the DVI to Component adapters from the manufacturer.

A VGA to component adapter will not work.

To use component you need a card that can output component with a supplied or additional adapter.

The closest to a VGA to component adapter is something like this but you need a card that supports that specific adapter.

On a standard tv, component will give you slightly better color than s-video, but overall the difference will be negligible.
In my own personal testing of s-video vs component for DVD viewing I couldn't tell the difference in sharpness, but the colors looked very slightly better in component than s-video.
