LMK what you think.

I have a geforce and TV out sucks And I do have the Hollywood plus but cant get it to work right with my TV, so im seriously considering getting a Radeon 8500.

Either that or i buy a new DVD Player.

Thanks!

If you only want to watch DVD's then I would get a stand-alone DVD player.

The H+ and Radeon have comparable TV quality, or maybe the H+ has a slight edge. But the H+ can't output your desktop or Divx, only DVD's.

Hollywood+ can only do DVD or Mpeg movies. It doesn't work like a vid card with tv-out for games or desktop text/graphics.

Any video card that has tv-out is limited by the quality of the tv so any video card will not look that great over a tv. Tv's are high color, low res generally unless you get a HDTV, but then the card may limit the amount of lines you can view. I know most cards will only output 800x600 onto any tv(some are now at 1024x768) but the refresh rate sux too on most tv's.

I'm not sure what the quality output for a Radeon 8500 would be, but if your tv is crap, it will still look like crap too. Keep text on a monitor, movies and some games on a tv if you want a larger viewing area.

As Workin' said, If Playing DVD's is all you want to do, then a new stand alone DVD player is the best spent money.

Of course if video editing or anything else is required, then having a good video card with video in/out also has it's advantages. I personally have an ATi Radeon VIVO 64DDR and love it's 2D/3D quality and also watch many DVD's outputed to the television with no complaints.

Text and "regular" computing will not look good on a TV unless you have a digital set and use it just like a regular computer monitor. DVD's/Games, etc, should look fine on an analog TV with a radeon or any other well made VIVO card.
