TV out not working right

Hey all,
I have a cord that has an svideo end and a regular video(yellow) end. Ive plugged the svideo end into my Gainward 1100xt 5900 xt and the yellow end into the video in on my TV. Using Nview, the only thing I get is flickering, distorted black and white images of the desktop. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
