TV out flickering (pics)

Hi! I have a 29" crt tv and used to use the tv out feature of my radeon 9500 pro (via composite) on it with no issues at all.

Now that I just got a new pc, including a xfx 8600 gt I'm having some trouble to put the tv out to work.

First, my composite cable didnt work with this card, so XFX sent me this svideo-component adapter :

Then I set it up, but all I got was a blue-ish flickering screen on my tv.

Can anyone give me some help on this ?

I'm assuming you have the component cables plugged in correctly. I had some issues that looked similar on a few nvidia cards. Check the TV setting and make sure it is set correctly for your country and video format. Mine used to default to Pal when I am in the US and needed NTSC. I also had problems getting that setting to stick sometimes. You may have to hook up a monitor to the second output to see these settings...since I can't make out much in your uploaded pic.

I went to the NVIDIA control panel and set the format to ntsc , then pal but nothing changed (also, i guess this tv i'm using is tri-band: ntsc / pal-m / pal-n).

I was playing around with the component connectors and switched the blue with the green on one side of the cables (thus crossing the cable) and i got a signal with no flickering, but it was black and white. very weird.

Any thoughts on that ?

I noticed you also posted over on Guru3d and you mentioned that you have a TV without s-video input, and an XFX 8600GT. Are you absolutely certain that this XFX card can even output component video? All I see on their cards is an S-video port.

Does your TV have a VGA port? If so, use that instead with a DVI to VGA converter. The card should have come with this adaptor.

Does the TV have an HDMI port? If your video card has a DVI port, you can do DVI->HDMI.

Or try the solution above. Depending on how old the TV is, there might not be a HDMI port, but VGA ports were on TVs before HDMI, so the above option is available.
