so i just bought a samsung LN55C650. I sit maybe about 8-10 ft away from the tv. so i got the hd box from comcast and was going through the hd channels and for some reason the picture kinda looks really choppy and blurry. some channels were shown on 720p and some were shown as 1080i. most of the 720p look kinda choppy and blurry.

Now my question is there something wrong with the tv like i might nee dto play with the settings a bit? or is there an issue witht he signal from the hd box to the tv? and are hd channels usually shown in 720p, 1080i, or 10180p?

please let me know thanks

Welcome to the world of compressed "HD".
How does OTA look?
How does Blu-Ray look?

Hard to tell the exact problem without testing other sources but its probably just the cable feed.

Just because your cable company pushes the channel at 1080i or 720p doesn't mean the source was ever that high of resolution or that they don't compress the hell out of it.

what does OTA stand for?

blue ray looks awesome nothing looks wrong when watching blue ray movies

as for the cable feed should i try out a different cable? or try giving a call to comcast? or does comcast actually suck with hd channels LOL

My cable HD channels look like shit too. I know it's the cable because it used to look glorious until my cable service changed hands and the clearQAM went down for a while while they did an "equipment update". When it came back it looked like I was watching a low bitrate divx file.
