TV Help Please

I have a Daewoo 27'' TV. IT's been a good tv, but it began to shut itself off after a thunderstorm came thhrough. It seems to do this during the day more than the night.

Can anyone tell me what may be going on?

thanks for any help

yep, got it on a good surge protector, nothing else was hurt in the least bit. That is what makes me wonder. But wouldn't it just blow the power source?

no sleeper timer.
it's not on.
The TV has been doing this about a week

it fuzzes out when it goes out. Like someone slowly pulls the plug out

quite funny.

I have had it for 3 years now and I got it for $200.00. Been the best tv ever.

so there 😛

🙂
any other serious people out there?

maybe someone from outside messin with ya. BTW someone could still be messing with you all they have to do is get one of those programmable replacement remotes.

try covering up the remote's sensor on the tv and see if it still happens

Try plugging it into a different outlet.

Are there a large number of electronics running in each room?

It could be that either the outlet or your circuit breaker are tripping out from over-use of electricity.

Call a TV repair center in your area... see if they have a policy of "if they can't fix it, you don't pay."
If they give you an estimate, and it's more than a couple hundred, do yourself a favor and buy a new TV 😉

he bought it for $200, no use in paying at least the $100 they'd charge to fix it.

whatever you do, DO NOT smack the TV. You will "dis-lodge" the tube and make it even more FUBAR. g'luck fixing your TV. Might be time for a new one if you find it too annoying. Maybe it's Uncle Sam trying to tell you that you watch too much TV 😉

Sounds like you have a surge on the power of your tv. Perhaps try getting a power regulator for your tv. It might help or might not. I'm thinking your tv board is a little messed up getting hit during the storm.

I work at a multimedia lab and we have technicians fix all kinds of tvs. We had one a few weeks ago where it would turn on by itself. Really weird. There might not be a solution for it. Unless you have warranty and take it back to Daewoo.

The PS is a gonner. the same thing happend to my 12 year old Sony 3 months ago. It was the second time it went out. The last time it went, it cost about 200 bucks to get it fixed. I wasnt going to spend that much again for an old TV so i got a Samsung EDTV for $450.00.

We use to have this old Sony TV that my grandma gave us. It would turn it self off after about 10 minutes and you would have to wait a minute before it would turn back on. If you pushed the power button right after the power went off it would just click. After watching TV for about 30 minutes or so it would warm up and stop turning itself off. Never did find out what the problem was, we just used it as a spare TV in one of the spare rooms.
