DS9 was way to Soap Opera-y.

I felt that TNG kind of neutered the series; too much diplomacy before action. I was watching TOS the other day and Kirk actually attacked a ship before he even knew who it was or what their intentions were. They didn't even try to hail them LOL!!

For the record, I am not currently nor have I ever smoked anything. Ever.

this is the best show ever... no other show compares to it. it's so good that it was a show about nothing and mocked every other show out there. took it to another level...

(i have 120/160 episodes on my hd!!!)

<< Personally News Radio is one of my favorite shows.

Ive never got to watch Babylon 5, I don't have cable.
>>

You didn't miss much.

<< Seinfeld is the greatest show of all time... NO QUESTION! >>

I don't know why this kind of stuff still surprises me after all the time I've spent here... 🙁

i never watched it while it was on in prime time, but i like to watch the re-runs that i never saw

TNG is the best, DS9 was no good until TNG ended and then all the writers went over to DS9, making DS9 pretty damn awesome. voyager blew goats. i haven't seen enough enterprise to make a decision (its on time warner here in austin, i have satellite).

TNG is top 10. seinfeld, mash, cheers, cosby, simpsons... thats 6...

fear factor o|/|/n5 them all.

That transition jingle from Seinfeld was so so annoying. They musta played it like 30 times in a 30-minute episode.

Seinfeld is good, but I wouldn't say it's that good. I'd probably put Cheers higher on the list, personally.

Give me a break!!! New Yorkers are funny all right but not in that sense.

Show was funny but also tedious just like Monty Python when you are not in the mood.

A lot better shows to pick from.

1 in 6 people (in the US) lives within a hour from new york city (or maybe it was 100 miles)

<< 1 in 6 people (in the US) lives within a hour from new york city (or maybe it was 100 miles) >>

That's the New Yorker "we're the center of everything" POV. The rest of us would say 5 out of 6 do not live within one hour / 100 miles. I wouldn't live in NY even for 3-4 times my current salary.

Star trek, A-Team, Simpsons, Cheers, and such were the best.

I could never watch Sienfield. I can't even spell it. That show just had too much stupidity in it.

I can proudly say that I have never seen Seinfeld.

I can also tell you that Sylvester Stallone was named "Action Movie Hero of the Millenium Today" which is equally as stupid as the seinfeld thing.

Yo, Adriaaaaaaaan.

I wholeheartedly agree!

I never found Seinfeld very funny. Pathetic is much closer to the mark. Why waste time watching people who are so thoroughly dislikable. Yuck! I've never voluntarily labored through a single complete episode.

Should be honored as the most overrated show of all time.

I think it is funny how every generation thinks their shows are the best......... 🙂

Personally, I think MASH is better.......... I spent a year in Korea and it is interesting hearing them mention places that I got to visit....even if I was there long after both the war and TV show....

If nothing else, Seinfeld was definitely the most revolutionary SITCOM of all time. Those first few years (and even during the peak years) it truly could be a show about nothing. My all-time favorites are the 'Parking Deck' episode and the 'Marine Biologist' episode.

MASH is tougher to put your finger on since it changed so much over the years. It started out a goofy, light-hearted comedy and eventually evolved into a moralizing comedy/drama. I personally love the show, but sometimes flip away if it's a serious episode. I like to watch sitcoms to relax, not get depressed.

Like a lot of people, I personally think Cheers is probably the best sitcom ever. It wasn't revolutionary like Seinfeld and hardly ever made me laugh anywhere near as hard as I did at portions of Seinfeld. But for what it did, it did better than anything else in my opinion. It had great writing, great actors, great characters, great stories (before the Seinfeld revolution of no stories, just funny conversation) and a great atmosphere. No other show helps me relax as much as Cheers. I guess that's why it's so popular and successful in late night syndication. Hopefully it'll always be that way.

Perhaps the coolest thing about Cheers is that it seems like nearly every generation likes it. People in my grandparents generation (the WWII generation) seem to like it. People in my parent's generation (the Baby Boomers) seem to like it. People in my generation (GenX . . . I hate that title) seem to like it. Even kids the age of my nieces and nephews seem to like it. It has that broad-based appeal that just clicks for some reason. I realize not EVERYBODY likes it, but it's mature enough to be funny for adults but isn't so offensive with in-your-face sexual innuendo that your kids can't watch it.

Hard to name anything the "greatest show of all time." I could make a case for the Brak show on the Cartoon network's adult swim 🙂

If I had to pick a list, it would be wonderfully subjective, and the Simpsons would be at the top.

<< If nothing else, Seinfeld was definitely the most revolutionary SITCOM of all time. >>

I'm afraid that's not true. "All in the Family" was much more "revolutionary" than Seinfeld.
