hello all. im not so educated in the specs and all for looking for a tv as a monitor.

im hoping someone can lend me a hand in choosing a tv with the right specs for a high end laptop that's functioning as a desktop replacement at the moment.

tv would be used for normal computer activities, movies, and slight gaming.
 
Most newer laptops have HDMI and/or DisplayPort/DVI output. So you would simply need to buy a TV that has a HDMI input, and the appropriate HDMI cable.
