TV dinner for $1.36 or McDonalds McDouble for $1.19?

I don't understand how people can eat microwave frozen dinners on a regular basis. They all taste pretty terrible and they're usually like 3 ounces of food, total. I work with several people that microwave Lean Cuisine meals everyday for lunch. I don't understand how they aren't starving after a 300 calorie "meal."

Actually they taste pretty good depending on the ones you pick

so bought a lean cuisine panni sandwich.

like all microwaved sandwiches, bread was soft/soggy.
not worth it even on sale for $1.36.
can make my own sandwich which would be cheaper/tastier

Did you cook it on the little metal paper stand? They should end up toasted if you do it right.

Nothing you buy at a grocery is actually good for you side for a few organic options or veggies without pesticide. Just drop the healthy talk.

I love the Turkey panini's.

Marie Calendar pot pies > *

I don't care if they have like a days worth of sodium and fat. The best is to make one with a few pieces of buttered sourdough bread to dip in the gravy. Those are maybe as good as any home made food I've had. Definitely the best tasting frozen thing I've ever consumed.

We do a lot of healthy crock pot meals here but I do love Marie Calendar pot pies!

You call getting ONE McDouble eating at McDonalds?!?

Go with the double quarter pounder with large fries and large chocolate shake. I would say finish it off with an apple pie but they went to hell when they quit frying them; if you're really hungry, a 10 piece McNugget complements this meal very well, and then you can dip your fries in the sweet&sour sauce.

Damm right and at the current sale price of $2 it's a great bargain.

For extra bread and lettuce...filler stuff is what you're paying when you can get a Mcdouble for cheaper? Sure, great bargain, I love paying for cheap fluff.

Here is a bargain recipe for fluff. Get a Mcdouble, Open it and put a piece of bread and lettuce in it and add some thousand island dressing and wipe off the ketchup...presto, instant Big Mac.

It depends on how much you spend, yea, the $1 variety Banquet one's are pretty bland but some others are OK. As I get older I'm finding I don't want a big lunch anyway, all it does it make me groggy the rest of the afternoon, I'd rather have a big meal at home..

yea, there is filler stuff in a Big Mac but they taste a LOT better than a Mcdouble..

When I was in Thailand I go to one of the food carts and eat a big Thai meal for $1.00. The only thing that bothered me was they would leave uncooked chicken or in the open. I'm sure the chicken soaked up plenty of car exhaust as it sat out in the hot heat.

They have McDonalds but its expensive!
🙂

What I am questioning is how can a single McDouble can provide enough nutrition for a meal. It's clear people are shopping based on income and laziness and not what's really better.

Also not all "TV Dinners" are terrible. You do get what you pay for though.

OP do you work 7 days a week?

Do you own a freezer?

On your days off make a bunch of stuff, portion it up and freeze it.

Try chicken cacciatore, boeuf bourguignon or similar. They are dead easy to cook, freeze and reheat well, and taste a damn sight better than something that comes in a cardboard box.

I've been doing 12x7 for most of the last year and I only wish it was because someone was throwing money my way. 🙁

Even with overtime, my hourly rate just isn't cutting it. Those same fast food workers are demanding more!

10 piece nugget that is some weak sauce son. My local McDonald's sells a 40 piece nugget with 2 fries 2 drinks on special for 10 bucks.

Lean Cuisine sucks. The food tastes bad, and there isn't much of it. McDoubles are tasty, and $1.19 isn't bad, but I wouldn't make a steady diet of them. Why don't you cook your own food? It tastes better, is cheaper, and it's better for you. Make a bunch and freeze it.

it's not cheaper.

A McDouble is about 4oz for everything? Lean Cuisine is about 8oz? I guarantee you I can make 8oz of food for less than $1. My dinner last night was three bean burritos. Those cost me about 75¢, and I'd guestimate it was 12oz of food.
