Soon you'll move up to a PVR-250 or the like and then most of your disk space will be used up.

Im using snapstream's demo now - and I've already recorded 8 hours worth of stuff today. Thank god for my previously empty 120 gb black friday special.

I've never been able to get snapstream to run on my main rig. Crashes during install 🙁

The new version or the old version?

The new version needs stupid .net to run, but will use multiple cards.

In recording at medium quality .wmv format (looks fine for me) and I have an Athlon XP 2800 with 640 megs of ram and my cpu resources are under 20% on a constant basis while recording

yes, they do. I got one of those cards years ago, when I moved into the dorms at school.

Right now, I'm using a PVR-250 to capture the Twilight Zone marathon on SciFi 🙂

What's so good about BeyondTV? Why not just use the WinTV and and the scheduling program that comes with it? That's what I'm doing.

Nate

You can schedule a couple of weeks ahead, do searches via snapstream.net for titles/actors/types of shows. And what's really neat is if you schedule a show via Snapstream.net your PC goes out to every hour or so and checks for new show that you might have scheduled.

With the new beyondTv you can use more then 1 PVR card.

move up to an hdtv card soon, before summer 05 when they start slappin copy protection compliance on hardware(no more capture). hd cards output looks so sweet compared to standard def ...it will blow ur mind🙂

If your CompUSA GC doesn't expire anytime soon I would wait, occasionally they have a $50 rebate on the PVR250 or USB for $149 - $50 = HOT $99.

They don't expire, you just get docked $2. Thanks for the tip though. 🙂

I think the card mfgs have been ordered to include the copy protection crap by July 2005.
So do your research to make sure your card isn't ahead of schedule....

You shouldn't be charged a $2/mo maintenance fee until 6 or 12 months pass though.

Yeah, I know. It's an old card which my grandfather doesn't need, so he gave it to me.
