can this be done, I have a remote for my kworld pci mpeg studio card and i was wondering if there is a way i can make it control other things like winamp or something. I did a search but found nothing.

Thanks

Well not really in the way you are hoping. But any IrDA remote can be used with a universal IrDA receiver. So if you got a USB or serial receiver and software you could program it to use that remote. I use a bargain-bin Packard Bell FastMedia receiver, WinLIRC and IRAssistant. The PB comes with a remote and is available on eBay for about $5. The software is free. A USB adapter would cost a bit more and not include a remote but would probably be more convenient to use as a transceiver. Another option is an ATI Remote Wonder RF kit but of course would be limited to that remote.
