Yes, No.

Street to house, house to splitter...one to tv other to cable modem, one to tv has a filter on it. I changed my splitter from a 2 to a 3. So now mine goes...street to house, house to splitter, one to tv, one to modem, one to tuner card. Works fine. I checked IP stacks before and after, checked ping before and after, checked speed before and after.....no difference here.

Thanks!
I just put a splitter right there at the cable goinging into the modem, one to modem other to tv card.
Works great!
Whats the filters for?
I did it this way because it would be alot of trouble running all that cable all through my house!Main splitter is in the base ment.

cox or roadrunner usually put a filter on the TV side so that the data doesn't mess up your tv or vice versa. Sometimes them guys put it on the wrong side and your internet don't work. Anyway it works for you great.
