Hi guys...
I have a Leadtek TV2000XP Deluxe on my HTPC and I'm trying to record to divx or Huffyuv avi. I'm using the Leadtek PVRsoftware to record. This is on an Athlon T-bird 1.4GHz clocked at 1.5GHz, 512MB PC2100 memory and a 40GB HDD.

MPEG-2 capture is no problem. I can set it to "MPEG-2 optimal" and it will record properly, and playback properly. However, divx and huffyuv capture is problematic. I have the codecs installed, and the PVR software records to my HDD, but the file will not playback on the HTPC, using either the PVR software, ZoomPlayer or WMP. WMP and ZP will show garbage, while the Leadtek PVR won't even open the file.

HOWEVER, I view the files from my main computer, and it works! However, there seem to be dropped frames and video stuttering. The video will freeze at certain points before playing again, but the audio keeps going on.

So my questions are
1) Why are the files not playable on the PC that's doing the recording/encoding but playable on another PC?

2) Why are playback of the files not smooth? Is my system to slow to do real time divx encoding? Its definitely fast enough for huffyuv since this codec is extremely fast and lossless.

Would appreciate answers, thanks!

I just upgraded from DivX 5.0.2 to DivX Pro 5.0.3 on that system, and gave it a reboot. Now its marginally smooth, with only a few micro-stutters with DivX/wma2...haven't tried Huffyuv yet...
