TV as monitor

I just built my brand new setup from scratch, and I am very eager to see if the BIOS boots up. Unfortunately, NewEgg messed up my order, and instead of shipping my monitor with the rest of my parts, they decided to ship it seperately. This took an extra business day, and as most of you know, Thanksgiving is not a business day. Therefore, it's coming on Monday. I was wondering if I could use my flat screen TV and hook that up to my desktop. Would I be able to see if the BIOS boots up like that? I have an HDMI cable that I can hook up to the TV and my desktop.

yup

edit: you may have to set it to PC or game mode in order to properly format the picture.

yup if its got vga/hdmi/dvi in you are good, nothing quite as weird as seeing the bios screen on a 50" plasma for the first time at home. if its hdmi out on your pc its plug and play, the others, probably have caveats and shit.

Haha yea I am really excited to see if my very first pc build is a success. Great to see it on a huge tv too! If it doesn't work would you help me out?

I have my computer set up with a monitor and to stream movies to my TV it appears to me that the Monitor has a lot nicer picture. However, If I did not have the monitor I would not notice it, because there would be nothing to compare it to. I have a Samsung LN40C500. It is kind of a budget low-end black Friday HDTV. Helps to have a video card with an HDMI Plug.
