I want to know what the difference between these two sound cards are. What works best with Win2k?

trust me on this- if you are running a 686-b south bridge motherboard along with 2K, use a turtle beach. I struggled with a Philips for 2 months, and eventually switched to a T.Beach. Works perfect- no clicks, pops, or crackles. It's a shame, as it worked excellent in 98.

I must agree with resinboy , I have the AE and in Win2K it keeps crackling and popping. It is a great card and it does work flawlessly in Win9X...but Win2K is less than stellar. I have a Herc GXP on the way...:)

crackling and pops? Im using Acoustic Edge and Win2k and I have never had a single problem.

go to neoseeker and search for the reviews of Acoustic Edge. If that doesn't convince you I dont know what will.

UCBPride, I think the problem exists with 686-b south bridge motherboards. I bought AE for my pc (IWILL KK-266R), and that card pops and cracks, but when I switch it to a BX board with win2k, it hardly pops and cracks (only when I am doing a lot of work that stresses out the CPU)
