I want to upgrade my sound card and decided to buy a TBSC. But I have heard somthing bad thing about the mic-in. Because I always use my mic to talk to my family and friends via MSN messager and netmeeting, I am really care about it.

Would you guys who have this card please tell me if you are ok with the mic? Or help me to test it on your machine?

My machine configuration is:

AMD xp1600+
512M PC2100 DDR
Abit KR7A-Raid
Geforce 2 GTS 32M
...

Thanks a lot!

Under win2k for me, the mic-in recorded all sounds comming from the mic, plus all sounds comming from the system itself. I don't have this problem under windows XP for some reason...

Thanks for reply! I am also using Windows 2000. Can you tell me if you are using via chipset for your motherboard? My old sound card aureal 1500 seems has some compatibility problem with it. Thanks again!

Nope this is an intel chipset board. i845

Please note, that the mic-in problem doesn't seem to effect most santa cruz users. In fact, it used to work fine...dunno what happened to it. Ah well...it works in windowsXP, so I'm not complaining.

My point is...there's a good chance it won't be a problem for you.

I have a Santa Cruz on my venerable Celeron 850/Abit BH6 setup, running under Win2K Pro SP3, and I've talked to my brother overseas via Netmeeting with a mic, as well as recorded to wav files with a mic too. No problems there. Of course, like most sound card mic inputs, its really soft, so you'd probably have to use the "mic boost" option.
