Turtle beach Infinity engine and eax shortcomings

Can someone give me a detailed explanation of the shortcomings with the turtle beach santa cruz, the infinity (baldurs gate) game engine and its eax problems? I was thinking of picking this up for a gaming card, but Im not liking what Im hearing about these issues.

for some reason the santa cruz and other cards based on that chip have this horrendous stuttering echo for sound with that game engine. i don't know why. the way i fixed it was to just use an old vortex2 card.

haha...

"the way I FIXED it was to avoid fixing it..." basically...funny.

can't u just turn EAX off?...i'm sure EAX sounds even worse on than off.

I just turned EAX off for BG2. The effect with it on was that the primary character voices would all be amplified and put through a filter. The filter was obviously intended for the echoing ambience of caverns, but the volume was really wonky compared to the rest of the game sounds.

Turning EAX off in no way limited the gameplay.

so if I turn the eax off in the infinity engine then it goes away?
I turn it off now on my sblive.
mainly because I can't hear what anyone is saying cause it SUCKS!!! but thats just my card.

eh, i bought the card the same day i beat the game. i was gonna stop playing anyway, that just accelerated the decision.
