I just turned 26...on the road for the auto shows, I can still stay out til 4AM and crank out an 8-hour shift from 10-6 and then do it all over again :p I guess I'm lucky - I'm healthy, no big problems, still look good...not complaining quite yet!

Stop feeling so bad...life's still good.

Man, I'm going to stay 18 as long as possible. I haven't gotten a hangover yet and I always remember everything relatively clearly after a party. Shit, getting old is gonna suck.

Edit: Although, for the record, I don't abuse my body per se. I smoke weed regularly and drink when the occasion arises, but I do go to the gym 3-4 times a week.

Where to begin? I'm 27 and definitely feeling no where near as fit as when I was 20. So let's see, here's the laundry list of problems:

1. Threw my back out wicked bad when I was 24 helping a friend's neighbor carry one of them freaking massive pro style stainless steel bbq grills up his basement steps. Back has been weak ever since and if I over do it like trying to pick up something heavy, out it goes.
2. Acid reflux. I get acid reflux and pop rolaids like it's going outta style. I used to be able to eat anything. Now when I eat alot of sweet stuff, drink too much coke, eat anything with tomatos, anything spicy or anything too greasy I get burning like satan is try to climb up my esophagus.
3. Just all around endurance is crap. I've got a gym membership and try to make it there at least one or two days a week and do some running on the treadmill and few nautilus machines. Doesn't seem to help much though. Will try chasing my brother's kids around when we're playing and man do I get winded quick.
4. Paintball kicks my ass. I like playing but only get out 2-3 times a year to play. After a day of paintball I'm sore in places I didn't even know I could get sore. It's not even the getting shot part that I worry about. It's how sore my muscles will be the next three days.
5. Getting soft in the middle. I try to stay away from the bad stuff like fast food and eat smaller portions for meals now that I work a desk job. The paunch is still winning the battle though. So far I've been able to keep my weight at about 195-200lbs which at 6'2" isn't bad but I've definitely got the beginnings of a gut. Man I miss those days I could hit up McDonalds and get the double quarter pounder meal super sized.

Well that's enough whining and complaining from me. Long and short, I feel you man. Keep on keeping on.

Im 25 myself, and I know that i am still young. But it sucks when your body doesn't agree with you:

Bad Back
Arthritis in knees
Gained a lot of weight (stupid metabolism)
Hemorrhoids
Heartburn so bad that the doctor went ahead and wrote a prescription for 6 months of nexium yesterday
My hair decided it doesn't like the sun and has started to hide.
I can't even tell you how many times I have had to have my toe nails removed either.

Heres to 30! It's only down hill from here!

HEH love these threads. makes me feel better about myself!

anyway i was born with major hearing loss (no hearing in left and 1/2 in right. which gave me speech problems..i sound like a 12 yr old girl) mild Cerbal palsy (just messed up my right foot/ankle).

I started losing my hair at around 10 (really it sucked).

now i have Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromylasia and even less hair then before..

BUT you need to look at the good sides. I have a Beautiful loving wife, 2 kids that keep me happy, young and fit.

i started wrestling and martial arts at around 6. did both up until 25. I have ran a successful business and went to college. still go for bike rides whenever i feel good enough to (love my specialized expedition) and fish/hunt whenever i can.

all in all yeah life is not fair. but i still feel blessed in what i have.

1-2 times a week is not enough. Aim for 3-4.

Gained a lot of weight (stupid metabolism)
Classical excuse. Been working out lately? No? Guessed so. Arthritis and bad back are definitely problems, but I'm sure there are ways around that.

How about turning your lives around, guys? Take up running (Couch-To-5K plan: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml ), biking, swimming, weightlifting, any other sport? You complain that your body doesn't agree with you; Well guess what, your body was made to be active. Since you do not work out regularly, your body hates you.

I am almost 20 and still invincible.
But then again I've been an elite swimmer since age 7. Few years ago ditched swimming for biking, and now added weight lifting and running.

I am 39 and I played competitive rugby until I was about 29. My active lifestyle has tapered off considerably, but I still play soccer twice a week. None of this is relevant to the astounding hangovers I now get that I related to earlier - that is purely an age issue. As for fitness, I remain fitter than 90% of my peers due to the years of rigorous training, but I do have dodgy knees, back and sometimes shoulders related to mixing it up with guys twice my size on the rugby pitch.

You can be a fit and strong and healthy 40 year old, but you will never be 25 again and lose your resilience if nothing else.

Thanks ATOT, you now have made me want to stay at 21 forever and I dread getting older. Then again I am keeping active now, so it should be easier to do later in life (30 mi bike ride in under 2 hours on Sunday, jogging, weights, etc) and hopefully wont have my body decide it doesn't like me anymore.

I'm pretty ok @ 22 but I really need to do something about my energy level. Getting me out of the house is the difficult part - once I'm out somewhere (with good company), I somehow come up with the energy of a 16-year-old extreme sports enthusiast.

But that's the tricky part - getting me out of my chair, and out into *gasp* sunlight.

man all these young guys limited in their 20's...my strength peaked more near 30 and only now at 37 do I feel long days out working and drinking affecting me more. Instead of being back up at crack of dawn the next day I find myself sleeping until 8-9am occassionally noon.
