Some of you are quite handy when it comes to...well anything relating to power tools. I have had no real experience - but as a hopeful soon to be home owner I decided it was time to try.
I made the mistake of saying I would help my wife with some of her 'projects' so she comes home with a round 36" diameter coffe table top that she got for free. She wants an ottoman....
Overall I would say the project was a resounding success

One of the edges is a bit dimpled as we had to cut the foam to fit and made a slight mistake, but the red covering hides that and there are some wrinkles in the fabric that can be seen if you are lying on the floor, but we are quite happy with the result.
It holds my not insubstantial 230lbs but lack of faith in my Bob Vila quotent prevented me from trying more
We also learned a couple of things:
Circles are hard (I already learned this once, but forgot)
A turkey cutter works much better than a utility knife for cutting foam padding
My wife can staple in more of a straight line than I can
We have very few random tools and supplies
Overall cost of the project:
Round top: $0
Wood for legs + bracing, screws: $5 (Thank you recycle center!)
Paint, rollers, paint pan: $15 (we had none of these - plus we get to keep the extra supplies for the future)
Fabric: $20
Foam padding: $25
Batting to smooth edges: $7
Total: $72 (Saved $35 with the use coupons)
