Turning on New Computer for first time ...

When the computer boots up for the first time and you go into the Bios, do you direct it to boot to the Cd drive if you want in to take the setup files from the CD. ( Not using boot disk). If this is the case do the setup files have the necessary files for setting up the CD drive ( actually It's a DVD Rom drive that I have).

Your help would be appreciated.

Tks

Well what operating system (like Windows XP, Windows 2000, etc) do you plan to run? If it is Windows XP or Windows 2000, then yes, set the BIOS to boot from CD. And the setup files do have the files (actually drivers) for using the CD-ROM. So for Windows 2000/ Windows XP, just insert the disc, tell the BIOS to boot from CD, then follow the easy directions! Just out of curiousity, what are the specs of your new beast?

I have been picking a few pieces over the last 6 months and was now down to the Video card and cooler, which are to arrive on Monday. I started to add up the cost and said I hope nobody asks. I also picked up a new computer desk to house the above which aslo set me back $330. Still have to pick up a nice chair. May be a problem fitting that in before xmas. Will need to do some creative accounting.
