Turning Off Raid 0

So I just discovered that my LaCie 1tb HD (32mb cache) is actually 2 SATA HD's raided together.

My questions are...

- When a raid is established, are the hard drives changed in any way? Specifically, if I pull the HD's and just have 2 standard 500gb HD's, will they work just fine or do I need to find a way to remove their raid status? I'm aware of 'data loss' if I do this.

- The HD is touted as having a 32mb cache. Is this a 16+16 setup or are both HD's 32mb cache?

.

This is a data storage device and I'm not comfortable with it being a raid 0 setup.

PS - A cookie if someone can tell where else I posted this.

The drives are not altered, If you dont mind losing the data at this time then you can set the controller to ATA mode and reformat the drives to seperate letters.

No
Yes... No
Check the LaCie manual or pull one of the drives (with the power off, of course)
LaCie tech support maybe?
