Turning 21 soon, what handgun to buy?

Simple thread, post handgun you like and why.

I'm leaning towards a smaller 9mm but also considering a .45.

But mainly just post what you have/like personally, I'm just looking for ideas.

Get a glock, good durable starter weapon and in the .40 size, full framed (not compact or sub-compact) I believe it's the G-23 is the full framed .40 cal glock. Also holds 15-17rounds per clip (can't remember offhand. I shoot one at the range regularly).

Depends on what you want it for...target, concealed, duty, etc. Also depends how much you can handle and what size your hands are (and which you are, right or left).

My personal concealed carry preference is a Taurus Millennium Pro PT140. Good weight, awesome fit in my hands, incredibly accurate for its size, and very very cheap. Just make sure you get a newer one (3rd revision I believe). The first one had serious issues.

Like PoW said, what do you want it for - plinking, concealed carry, hunting, etc? That would be a big factor in the kind of recommendations you get. My primary carry weapon is also a Taurus Millenium Pro, but I went with the PT145. The only thing negative I can say about it so far is that they have jacked the price up now so it isn't as inexpensive as when I bought mine.

You Americans are f'd. 🙂 I turned 19 and the last thing on my mind was buy a handgun, it was actually just the continual want of poon.

This thread amazes me at just how easy it is to get a gun and how casual...

We need guns for the public here in Canada...

lol I know, I find it's funny. I don't know if us Canadians running freely with guns would be a good idea though. We do enough damage with hockey sticks and pucks. :awe:

But yeah it is funny how it's so casual to get a gun in the states. Wonder if they have bullet vending machines, that would be kind of cool. 😛

get a 9mm for your first gun, if you dont want to go broke learning how to shoot

glock 17/19
xdm
beretta
taurus 24/7(doesnt have as good of resale, but good solid guns)
